IMPORTANT SAFETY ADVISORY CONCERNING SIMPLICITY CRIBS
On April 29, 2010, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published an announcement urging consumers to stop using certain Simplicity cribs with tubular mattress support frames manufactured by Simplicity Inc., of Reading, Pennsylvania. Further information pertaining to the Advisory that was issued in the United States can be found on CPSC’s website at www.cpsc.gov.
The crib’s tubular metal mattress support frame may bend or detach and cause part of the mattress to collapse, which may create a space into which an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged, entrapped or fall out of the crib.
There have been no incidents reported in Canada.
In Canada, this Safety Advisory affects only the following models of Simplicity branded cribs:
Ellis 4-in-1 Convertible Sleep System |
8674NC |
Ellis Convertible Sleep System |
8676CC, 8676HC, 8676NC, 8676WC |
Crib N’ Changer Combo Convertible Sleep System |
8994WC |
The name “Simplicity Inc.” or “Simplicity Children” appears on a label on the crib’s mattress support frame and / or the crib’s end panels. The cribs were manufactured in China.
In Canada, approximately 3,775 these Simplicity branded cribs were sold nationwide by major retailers and independent retailers from January 2004 through December 2008.
